When a court dismisses a protection order case (either for domestic abuse or harassment/stalking), the judge can now order all records from that case to be erased, including documents held by the Department of Social Services. This allows people whose protection order cases are dismissed to have those records removed from official files rather than having them remain permanently available. The bill applies to both domestic abuse protection orders and harassment/stalking protection orders.
